Friends of the Animals (FOTA) Gold Coast is a group of like minded Animals Lovers raising funds for the Animal Welfare League of Q'ld (AWQL). FOTA Gold Coast was founded in February 2013. The AWLQ was founded in 1959 and during it's 53 years has been caring for abandoned and strayed animals in South East Q'ld. To date AWLQ has rehomed over 130,000 animals. Roy and Carol Langsford established the Sydney-based Trish Multiple Sclerosis Research Foundation, with a great team of volunteers, after watching their daughter Trish suffer and lose her life to the dreadful disease multiple sclerosis (MS). The Foundation's goal is to find a cure or preventive strategy for the debilitating disease MS.  What sets the Trish Foundation apart is the Foundations' dedicated team of volunteers and their policy that every dollar raised feeds directly into MS research.  The Foundation Directors cover the administrative expenses. Led by Founder Dr Dimity Dornan and Charman of the Board Paul Laxon, Hear and Say is one of the leading paediatric Auditory-Verbal and Implantable Technologies (including cochlear implants) centres in the world, teaching children who are deaf to hear, listen and speak since 1992. CharityDOs attended the recent Mater Foundation Red, White and Sparkling Dinner on a beautiful Queensland winter evening at the Hillstone Golf Course in St. Lucia Brisbane. The dinner raised funds for the Mater’s medical research projects and highlighted the success of the "Smiling For Smiddy" campaign that raised funds for cancer research. During the evening we heard from speakers including the Mater Foundations’ Director Nigel Harris who updated us on the research conducted by the Mater Medical research staff.
