Li Cunxin's journey is simply remarkable. Born into utter poverty in Mao's communist China. He studied at Madame Mao's notoriously harsh dance academy to become one of the best dancers in the world. Currently the Artistic Director of Queensland Ballet, he was named Australian Father of the Year in 2009 and Queensland Australian of the Year in 2013. The 2009 film adaptation of the same name is the 12th highest grossing Australian film of all time. His inspirational journey has demonstrated the importance of family values and love; of maximising opportunities in life and turning dreams into reality.
