Yarra Youth Services Girls Clothes Swap (12-18yrs)
What can I bring?
You may bring up to 5 pieces of clothing and unlimited accessories that include;
Dresses, pants, tops, cardigans, jeans, shorts, shirts, skirts, Unlimited amount of accessories - bags, purses, scarves, belts and jewelry. NO underwear, bathers, ear rings or make up please.
Clothes need to be washed and in very good condition – please no stains, tears, pilling, broken zips, missing buttons etc. Clothes in poor condition may not be accepted, so bring the quality of clothing that you would like to receive.
Please bring a large bag with you on swap night to take home your new clothes.
How will the swap work?
Registration is from 6.30pm – 7pm and it is important you arrive at this time, as it may be too late for you to take part if you’re late. Head to the registration table with your clothes, fill in some quick details, then you will be given 5 swap tickets to shop for your new clothes once they have been checked to be in good condition. 1 ticket will be for each new item of clothes. The first 20 girls to arrive will also get a free showbag!
At 7pm, we will start round one of shopping where you’ll get to choose 2 favorite items by putting your swap ticket label, with your name on the clothes you’ve chosen.
Feel free to go and have something to eat, drink, listen to music, have a chat with every one else and have fun meeting new friends.
The 2nd round you’ll get to choose your next favorite 3 items. If at the end of the night someone else has chosen the same item as you, we’ll play a game of “rock, paper, scissors” and the lucky winner gets to keep that item. But don’t worry, you’ll be able to choose something else to swap.
All clothes will be sorted by categories on clothing racks and tables with signs, so it’ll be easy for you to look through the clothes.
Please don’t forget to re hang and fold clothes when you’ve finished looking or trying them on. We don’t want to have piles of clothes or have them getting dirty on the floor.
We’ll have dressing areas and mirrors so you can try on your new clothes to make sure they fit and also to see how great they look!
Consider wearing tights/leggings and a singlet top under your clothes and slip on shoes to make it easier for you to try on new clothes.
Shopping will end at 8.30pm and all leftover clothes will be kept for our next clothes swap.
Snacks and drinks will be available during the night.
If you don’t want to swap, donations are gladly accepted.
