Beautify the Bollards - Avalon NSW - Has Ended
DO Details
Many years ago a group of residents painted the bollards that are installed outside Avalon Surf Life Saving Club. Led by landscape architect Richard Stutchbury, community members coloured and carved the bollards with abstract designs.
Over the years the elements have worn away the iconic designs, and the bollards now need some T.L.C.
So, to celebrate the opening of its newly refurbished building, Avalon Surf Life Saving Club and Pittwater Council are inviting artists to come along and paint new designs on the bollards.
The painting will take place on Sunday 9 November from 11am – 3pm. Paints and brushes will be available to decorate the bollards, and messy painters should bring their own smocks!
Avalon Surf Life Saving Club will host a sausage sizzle fundraiser on the day of the painting.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the community painting. New designs are welcome, as are those that pay homage to the original pictures. Designs that showcase or celebrate the look and feel of Avalon are also encouraged.
With a total of 18 bollards there is plenty of opportunity to get involved.
The location is at the outside of Outside Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club
