High profile personalities, cycling fanatics and keen foodies alike are invited to a special gala fundraising dinner at Dockside's exciting new Pavilion venue to enjoy a tantalising taste of the new route for The Variety Cycle 2015. With a sensational three course meal featuring Tasmanian produce to highlight the final destination of the next Variety Cycle, the night will include an inspirational speech by Aussie cycling sensation, Simon Gerrans together with superb food, premium beverages and great entertainment on Thursday 23rd October, 2014.

Following the ‘spoketacular’ success of the inaugural Variety Cycle 2014 launch dinner, Variety - the Children's Charity will host its sell-out event to announce the new breathtaking 15-day course from Sydney to Hobart, and inspire cycling enthusiasts and admirers to don their lycra and crank their gears for The Variety Cycle 2015.

This night of nights will see philanthropic guests raise their glasses for the success of the next Variety Cycle, and saddle up to hear a motivating speech by guest speaker, renowned cyclist, Simon Gerrans.  Simon is the current Australian cycling champion and is ranked in the top 10 in the world. He is the only Australian to have won a stage at all three Grand Tours and wore the prestigious Yellow Jersey for two stages at the 2013 Tour de France. This inspiring elite cyclist will share stories of his cycling experiences and his newfound involvement with The Variety Cycle.

Guests will also enjoy canapés and a three course feast of contemporary Australian dishes, as well as cocktails, premium beverages and exciting entertainment.

This sensational evening will be hosted by funny man Shane Jacobson, most famously known for starring in hit movie ‘Kenny’ and hosting Australia’s Top Gear, and the delightful Sylvia Jeffreys from Channel Nine’s TODAY Show, who will be complimented by a lineup of some spectatcular entertainment (details to be announced towards the end of September).

The evening is dedicated to launching The Variety Cycle 2015, which commences Saturday 28 February while raising funds for Variety's work with Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

CEO of Variety – the Children’s Charity (NSW), Tam Johnston says The Variety Cycle 2015 launch dinner aims to get on board new cyclists to join The Variety Cycle peloton in 2015 for the epic adventure of a lifetime.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we will be heading to Tasmania for the first time next year, following on from our super successful inaugural event in March 2014, where our courageous cyclists travelled over 26 days to Uluru and raised over $618,000 for our Aussie kids in need,” said Tam Johnston, CEO of Variety – the Children’s Charity (NSW).

“It is our goal at Variety – the Children’s Charity to bring hope and happiness to Aussie kids by providing them with tangible equipment, programs and experiences that help them overcome whatever obstacles they face and live their lives to the fullest. This year we are setting our sights on raising $1million. Events like The Variety Cycle, with the passionate and engaged group that join it and help to raise funds, are vital in enabling us to achieve this ambition ,” said Tam Johnston, CEO of Variety – the Children’s Charity (NSW).

More than just a bike ride, The Variety Cycle is a bighearted quest to touch the lives of children in remote areas of our country, while giving participants an experience like no other. The riders will engage with communities, schools and hospitals along the expansive route, delivering much needed equipment and resources. These donations are fully funded through cyclists’ fundraising efforts leading into the ride.

Last year’s The Variety Cycle launch dinner was a sell-out to a crowd of 500 guests, making this year’s event one of the hottest tickets in town and a must-do!
