What is it like to live a life with HIV?
Do you know of or have lost your loved ones to this life-threatening disease?
What would it be like to live with a social stigma and be abandoned by your family once you’ve been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS?
Without any support, would you be able to make it through?
Thailand is a country where the prevalence of HIV is high. It affects 1.1% of the population aged between 15 and 49, and results in between 16,000 - 21,000 deaths every year.
These patients are fully dependent on their families and friends for intensive care. However, some are not so fortunate to have that support. They are sadly neglected and therefore turn to outside support from hospices such as the Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu Buddhist temple (the Temple of Aids, Thailand). In order to provide appropriate medical assistance and care to these patients, the temple requires financial support from kind-hearted donors from all over the country and overseas.
This year, we invite YOU to make a difference to these patients’ lives by attending our Mr Australasia Charity Dinner. The funds raised at this dinner will be used by the Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu temple to provide much needed care to their patients. The temple has been operating as an AIDs hospice since 1990, has cared for more than 10,000 people, and is currently home to 500 HIV-positive patients.
