Youth Lab x Pancare Luncheon - Has Ended
DO Details
BACKGROUND
A cause very close to Dr Kate's heart having lost her wonderful Mum, Linda, to this disease, she is now at a point in her journey where she is ready to help raise awareness and support other families who have also been impacted by Pancreatic Cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the 10th most commonly diagnosed cancer type in Australia. It has the 5th highest mortality rate in Australia and one of the poorest survival rates of all cancers (5 year survival rate of only 10%). Unfortunately, this has only marginally improved over the last 40 years.
The disease is often diagnosed late due to vague symptoms and there is no formal screening program for early detection. The Pancare foundation desperately needs further support for vital research and to raise community awareness about this silent disease.
