Fundraising Movie Night - Has Ended
DO Details
Movie:
Rachel Ward and her Australian actor husband Bryan Brown bought a farm where they raised cattle and their children, endured droughts and flooding rains and finally the catastrophic bush fires of 2019-20, which threatened Rachel's farm and devastated Australia.
Witnessing the fury of those fires firsthand, in tandem with the birth of her first grandchild, forced Rachel to confront her own role, however small, in the precariousness of our environment. Rachel voyages from wilful ignorance about the ecological impacts of conventional agriculture on her own rural property, to embracing a movement to restore the health of Australia's farmland, food and climate.
Beneficiary:
The funds raised will assist with further development of a Garden of Hope in Shariya Refugee Camp, Northern Iraq. The funds raised at the movie night will be used to purchase 2 x large greenhouses to double the area for crops of fruit and vegetables. With 2 new hothouses, vegetables wil be able to be harvested year round. The crops are distributed among the refugees - with priority given to those released from ISIS captivity, elderly, orphans, disabled and the poor.
