Event Details

We are organizing an auction fundraiser event to support Michelle Hansford, a cancer survivor who recently underwent the life-changing decision of having her arm amputated in hopes of ridding herself of cancer once and for all. Michelle, a loving mother of five and grandmother of ten, has battled breast cancer for several years, enduring surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.

The auction fundraiser aims to raise funds to assist Michelle in her recovery journey, covering medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and offering emotional support. The event will feature a wide array of items up for auction, including unique experiences, vacation packages, signed AFL guernsey, and much more.

By participating in this event, you not only have the opportunity to acquire incredible items but also contribute to Michelle's well-being and her pursuit of a cancer-free life. Your generosity will make a significant difference in Michelle's ability to heal and rebuild her life after this challenging ordeal.

Join us in supporting Michelle Hansford at our auction fundraiser event as we come together as a community to celebrate her strength and resilience. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on her journey towards a brighter and healthier future.

Michelle's Story

Michelle, a 59-year-old mother of five and grandmother of ten, was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2017. By 2018, the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, resulting in two surgeries to remove her left breast and 19 lymph nodes. Michelle underwent extensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

In late 2018, Michelle decided to have her right breast removed as a precautionary measure against future cancer. However, the surgery was classified as elective, and due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, all elective surgeries were put on hold. In early 2022, Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer in her right breast, which was subsequently removed in March.

In February 2023, during a routine checkup, Michelle received devastating news: she had developed a sarcoma, a malignant tumor, attached to an artery in her neck. The sarcoma was caused by the radiation treatment she received in 2018. Given two options—live a short and painful life or have her left arm amputated, including her shoulder and part of her chest cavity—Michelle made the life-changing decision to undergo the amputation. Her hope is that removing the arm will prevent the cancer from recurring.

As a result of her health challenges, Michelle had to give up her job as a housekeeper at a local motel, and her partner had to quit his FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) job to support her. On May 30th, 2023, Michelle had the surgery and is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Osborne Park.
