Faith, Hope & Charity Ball - Has Ended
DO Details
Help reunite Redson Selvam's family by taking part in the Darra Jindalee Parish's Refugee Family Reunion Project and supporting the Faith, Hope & Charity Ball on Saturday 22 July for a night of fun, raffles and feasting at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School Hall from 7-10pm.
Redson, a member of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Community in Darra, is a Tamil refugee from Sri Lanka's civil war who has been living in Australia on a Safe Haven Enterprise Visa since 2012. He is currently separated from his wife and two children.
Temporary visa holders who are refugees in Australia can now legally apply for permanent residency. A visa to see family and friends is something that can be applied for after they have become permanent residents. This change in policy has given many refugees who have been living in Australia for over a decade, separated from their families, new reason for hope.
The Department of Immigration's family reunification application fees can add up quickly. It will now cost $14155 to cover the cost for Redson’s wife, 18-year-old son, and 14-year-old daughter which does not include flight costs. Our Faith Family can help reunite a broken family by covering some of these costs.
Please consider how you could help reunite this family by coming to the Faith, Hope & Charity Ball on Saturday 22 July at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart from 7-10pm! All profits raised will aid in reuniting Redson, his wife and two children.
