JOIN THE #SCHNITTY4SAM MOVEMENT!
On Sunday the 4th of May 2008, the life of 17 year old Sam Davis was tragically cut short. Sam fell victim to a one punch attack. Following the devastating loss of Sam the Sammy D Foundation was formed, with the ultimate aim of providing skills to young people in order to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
Almost thirteen years on, the Sammy D Foundation has spread Sam's message across hundreds of schools, community groups, and sporting clubs, raising awareness and educating over 140,000 young people about the consequences of violent behaviour, and the risks associated with alcohol and drug misuse.
On Monday 4 May 2020, we were set to commemorate the 12 year Anniversary of Sam Davis’ passing and celebrate the work of the Sammy D Foundation with a Schnitty 4 Sam fundraiser at the Crown Inn, South Australia.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we were unable to join together, but still determined to commemorate Sam and celebrate the work of the Foundation, and so the #schnitty4sam movement was born. With donations and support flying in from all over Australia, and even as far as the UK, the response was heart-warming.
Because of the wonderful support of our community, we raised over $16,000. In 2021 we are hoping to double this amount! That’s where you come in
It’s quite simple really! All you need to do is:
1️⃣ Eat a schnitzel (what an awesome ask?!)
2️⃣ Pledge you’re in by sharing our social posts with #schnitty4sam
3️⃣ Make a donation to the Sammy D Foundation
4️⃣ Share your #schnitty4sam pics on Tuesday 4 May. Never fear, if you can’t do it on the day feel free to upload them at any point. This fundraiser is OPEN NOW!
Whether you make your own, go to a pub, visit your local takeaway shop we’re inviting ✉️ you to join us again in having a Schnitty 4 Sam! Don’t fret, all schnitties count including plant based/vegan options! ?
This is the perfect excuse to indulge in Sam’s (and let’s be honest, everyone’s) favourite Aussie classic and we’re excited to see everyone post their schnitties #schnitty4sam.
No donation is too big or too small. Even your $5+ per schnitzel will play a part in assisting us to continue educating and mentoring young people in our community. Any contribution toward our #schnitty4sam campaign will make a big difference to us and the young people we work with.
