Beats for the Box - An Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser - Has Ended

Please join me in dancing the night away as we break the silence about the ‘box’, and raise funds for research into ovarian cancer. All money raised goes to Save the Box. 

There will be fabulous DJs playing awesome beats, great prizes for auction, and some surprises on the night, all overlooking one of the sexiest views on Sydney Harbour. Come sip bubbles, or down shots, whatever tickles your fancy, whilst bopping to some great beats. Wear Black and Gold, the colours of Save the Box. There will be prizes for the best outfits!

I am holding this event as I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in February 2017, aged only 39, when my daughters had just turned 2 and 4. Only 4 in 10 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will survive five years after diagnosis. This compares to 9 in 10 women surviving breast cancer in the same period. Breast cancer survival rates have dramatically improved over the years due to funded research and clinical trials.

Unfortunately, ovarian cancer is the deadliest but must underfunded women’s cancer. As a scientist, I know that my only hope for seeing my girls grow up is through clinical trials and research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of ovarian cancer.

Virtually every advance in cancer survival has been made on the back of clinical trials. This is why I am so passionate about supporting Save the Box and ANZGOG.
