DO Details

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Voice of the Martyrs Australia.

It’s been 50 years since Pastor Richard Wurmbrand visited Australia to share his story of persecution in communist Romania and in doing so; Voice of the Martyrs Australia was established.

A 50th anniversary fundraising dinner will be held in Sydney on Saturday 8 June.

During an evening of wonderful Christian fellowship combined with a delicious three course meal, we will also be raising funds for our persecuted brothers and sisters in the Muslim world.

Join us as we listen to testimonies of victory over persecution from renowned international speakers including Bob Fu, Petr Jasek and Dr Daniel Shayesteh.

An evening of faithful encouragement indeed!

Christians in the Muslim World – Food for the Soul, Food for the Bowl

Many of our brothers and sisters in the Muslim world, have left Islam for Christianity.  Muslim background believers experience many forms of persecution including isolation, beatings, imprisonment and sometimes even death.

Christian converts from Islam often lose their homes, jobs, families and their positions in society. With little hope of gaining new employment our brothers and sisters in Muslim countries often face poverty. They generally can’t afford to buy necessities such as food. A Bible is very often unaffordable, even if available. In some predominantly Muslim countries it is illegal to own a Bible and in others, access can be limited in certain areas, most notably in rural towns and villages.

By attending our fundraising dinner you can help us raise funds to provide Christians in the Muslim world with both spiritual and physical nourishment.

"Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also." Hebrews 13:3 (NKJV)

Our speakers:

Bob Fu

Bob Fu is one of the leading voices in the world for persecuted faith communities in China. He is the Founder and President of ChinaAid, an organisation founded in the United States of America which exists to expose human rights abuses in China and promote truth, justice and freedom. Bob was born and raised in mainland China and was a student leader during the Tiananmen Square demonstrations for freedom and democracy in 1989. In 1997, Bob and his wife fled to the US as religious refugees and subsequently founded ChinaAid.

Petr Jasek

Petr Jasek is a Czech missionary who was imprisoned in Sudan for 14 months and tortured by Islamic State extremists. Petr was only meant to spend 4 days in Sudan but spent 445 days there moving across five different prisons. Throughout the process, his faith was strengthened and he led many people to the Lord. Petr has since shared his story and the supernatural peace he encountered while facing intense persecution.

Dr Daniel Shayesteh

Dr Daniel Shayesteh was a teacher of Islamic philosophy, a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Army and a leading Muslim fundamentalist in the 1970’s, closely supporting Ayatollah Khomeini. After falling out of favour with Khomeini’s political group in Iran, he escaped to Turkey where he began his journey to faith in Christ. He is now a Christian evangelist and established the organisation Exodus from Darkness in 2000 to facilitate his ministry to western churches and immigrants from the Middle East.
