MEDIA RELEASE 29/05/2018

MIREILLE, A SURVIVOR AND QUIET ACHIEVER

Diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, in April 2014, Mireille was so grateful for the support of the Leukaemia Foundation during her treatment and recovery, she has been paying forward her gratitude for the Foundation's help and her current health in a very tangible way.

“Mireille is an inspiration, over the past three years she has worked tirelessly to honour the work of the Leukaemia Foundation and help raise much needed funds” said Deb Wilkins, Community Relationship Manager for the Leukaemia Foundation.

She has organised three very successful morning teas and two cocktail parties over the last three years, raising more than $53,000.”

Mireille’s next event, her Fourth Fundraising Morning Tea, which is held in July each year on the anniversary of her final chemotherapy session, is on Wednesday 25th July 2018 10am – 12pm (arrival 9.30am).

MC will be highly regarded philanthropist, Vince Garreffa. Entertainment will be provided by Penrhos College Year 10 String Quartet and 2018 National Junior Latin American Dance runners up, Alexia Femia and Luke Stoksik (they missed 1st place by 1 point) will perform a Latin American dance set.

Pre-purchased tickets are $50 ($55 at the door) which includes all finger food and beverages. Tickets available at http://bit.ly/LFBoxOffice

All proceeds raised will go to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Another 35 Australians are diagnosed each and every day. Although improved treatments and care are helping more people survive, sadly someone loses their life to blood cancer every two hours. In fact, blood cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia, claiming more lives than breast cancer or melanoma.

The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national charity dedicated to helping those with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders survive and then live a better quality of life. It exists only because of the generous and ongoing support of the Australian community.
