UADV work as volunteers and are committed to providing support to survivors of domestic violence. We aim to support the women and children relocating from the Thelma Brown Cottage (a domestic violence shelter) by providing them with the necessities they have not been able to purchase during their stay at the Thelma Brown Cottage.
Come along to an enjoyable night of prizes, auctions and entertainment whilst supporting a great cause.
DO Supports
UADV formally known as One Billion Rising Parramatta has been operating since 2012on a volunteer basis, and have been recognised for the work we provide thelocal community by being awarded the Australia Day Award for Project of theYear 2016.
We have been assisting women and children residing at the ThelmaBrown Cottage (TBC) escaping domestic violence. Over the past 4 years UADV hasraised and donated over $100 000.00 in funds and items to the TBC and aim toprovide continued support to survivors.
Each year UADV not only providesfinancial assistance to the TBC we also provide gifts to the women and children during Mothers Day and Christmas. Our main aim is to assist survivors of domestic violence by working closely with the TBC which is a refuge in Parramatta. These women escaping from violent relationships usually leave with just the clothes on their back and only a few personal items they can fit in a bag and need torestart their lives again from scratch.
What we do is assist the women infurnishing their new homes with the items that they have not been able to purchase during their 3 months stay at TBC
We hope that with our continued partnerships and support we are able to further assist the women and children when relocating to their permenant accomodation.
