DO Details

The White Ribbon Campaign is a national initiative that focuses on the positive role that men play in preventing violence against womenand is a way for men to safely challenge the attitudes of the percentage of men who use or condone violence.

The Parramatta Cumberland Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Committee are hosting a White Ribbon Day Breakfast on the 24th of November 2017 to support the work we do with the women and families experiencing violence, but more more importantly bring education to the local men as a prevention strategy to family violence.

The breakfast event is an opportunity to build bridges and networks between community workers and local businesses. The target audience attending the breakfast will be made up of business owners and local professionals; this will be a chance to network and profile your product or service to potential clients.

Venue: To be confirmed

DO Supports

Cumberland Women’s Health Centre convenes the Parramatta Cumberland Family and Domestic Violence Committee. The committee has been established for over 20 years and is made up of local government and non- government services. This committee meets bimonthly at our centre and its activities are Domestic Violence Prevention orientated. We work in partnership with other local agencies addressing issues which have been identified through local consultations therefore being relevant and effective. We would like to make the Committees activities even more relevant. We value Government and Non-Government agencies, as well as local services, churches and community groups. Our Committee is always open and we encourage new agencies to come along and be represented and contribute towards these projects. Domestic Violence is a factor in 80% of cases we deal with and we need to work more closely together to address this huge issue in our community. We can do this by raising awareness, building on community strengths, collaborating in joint projects as well as increase our building on our learnings and expertise. One of the key objectives of the Committee is to build and maintain partnerships with organisations and promote prevention of violence through information sharing, resources, education and awareness raising activities.
