DO Supports

Victorian Dog Rescue is a community foster care network focused on saving dogs and cats on death row in Victorian pounds. We run the Drought Dogs Program which has operated for nearly five years rescuing and transporting dogs from Rural Victoria to safe havens in Melbourne. We are a registered charity and with other groups have formed the Dog Rescue Association of Victoria Inc to act as a lobby group. Our support comes from the community that appreciates the value we place on the lives of our companion animals and the fact that all the money donated and raised goes to the animals. We are not involved in animal control at all: only in animal welfare. We save animals that have been abused and abandoned, and place them in foster care until they are adopted. We act as an advisory service for people wanting to surrender their dogs, to adopt a dog, and actively campaign for better conditions for domestic animals. We are a totally not-for-profit organisation and every cent we raise is used to feed and house the rescued animals and to pay our veterinary costs which can be prohibitive as our animals are treated the same as we would our own family dogs. www.victoriandogrescue.org.au
