DO Details

The Easter Charity Art Show art show will run for two weeks from Good Friday at Painters' Gallery in Manly and will feature and eclectic range of artworks from established local artists. All artworks are for sale in support of a very special cause for health equality.

Join us for a champagne soiree on Thurday 9th April from 7pm

The charity we are supporting is called Australians for Women’s Health. They are doing really wonderful work in Nepal where the incidence of Pelvic Organ Prolapse has been the highest in the world and is 100 x the incidence in Australia. Women who are doing the most natural thing in the world - carrying a baby - can end up with their pelvic organs slipping out of their body and are then shamed and often ostracised. This happens to even quite young women in Nepal who then endure miserable lives.

An Australian surgeon, an inspirational chap called Dr Ray Hodgson, has spearheaded this charity and made 15 trips to Nepal at his own expense operating on these women and training local doctors and midwives etc. He has sometimes been accompanied by other medical staff from Australia too who have also volunteered their time and with him have done both curative and preventative work.  A4WH are now focussing on building expertise and capability on the ground there in Nepal.  You can find out more about this wonderful organisation at their website which is www.A4WH.org or on their Facebook page: Australians for Women’s Health.

We hope that you and your friends will come and join us to support this extremely worthwhile cause.
