This year’s Go Red for Women launch on the 12 May at Henry Jones IXL Atrium is a call to action to be Go Reddy for Go Red for Women day on the 11 June. Following on from the messages of Heart Week to ‘move more and sit less’, the Go Red for Women campaign will focus on a call to action to wear red on Go Red for Women day, donate to the Heart Foundation during Go Red for Women month of June, and to also consider having a heart check at your GP, as well as encouraging guests to start their own Go Red fundraising for the month of June to support the research funded by the Heart Foundation.

As well as a fabulous fashion parade of men’s and women’s clothing by Ci Simon and Review being a key feature of the event, there will also be the chance to meet and mingle with our Go Red for Women launch event ambassadors, including Heart 107.3’s Kylie Baxter, Tasmanian Miss Universe entrant and Face of Style Kayla Gregg, our Heart Foundation Ambassador Jane Stephens, and to hear from our key researchers on current research projects funded by the Heart Foundation.

Artmob will remain open on the evening for those keen to peruse or buy indigenous art.

On display will be “Hot Metal Couture” by renowned sculptor Dr Christopher Edwards, We will also be featuring some of the fabulous works donated for our upcoming Annual Gala Ball in June, including “Ringing in the Wind” by Melanie McCollin-Walker, jewellery and a handmade mohair shawl made by Mary Gays, and there will be other artworks to admire, including those from Artmob. There will also be the chance to bid on artworks including Esther Shohet’s silk work entitled “3 OClock”, at the live auction held on site. Artworks created by Elia Basser, Elizabeth Barsham and Betty Nolan will also go under the hammer and the auction will be conducted by Auctioneer Paul Farrelly of Ray White Hobart.

There will be ample opportunity to mingle and enjoy a wonderful night of art and fashion, while considering the options for formulating your own plan for what to do on Go Red for Women day.

You may wish to support the campaign within your workplaces via the following ideas.

If your firm wants to support the Go Red for Women campaign, one simple way might be to dress your reception, workspace or windows red during Go Red for Women month in June, or on Go Red for Women Day on the 11 June. I’m happy to provide a donation box for your workplace.

You may wish to dress up your Facebook page in some way, and show your support in that manner, with a link to the Go Red site.

Or you might choose to host a fundraising event or activity for Go Red for Women and donate to the campaign.

We’ll be sharing creative ideas via facebook too, so do let me know your ideas for Go Red for Women month and for 11 June.
