In March 2015 voters in NSW will go to the polls to choose their next State government. Cancer Council NSW is running a campaign called Saving Life 2015: Change Starts Here. Its objective is to make all candidates in the election aware of the things that they can do to help beat cancer.
Saving Life 2015: Change Starts Here calls on all candidates to support Cancer Council NSW's Vision For Change. The Vision For Change calls for action on five key issues: tobacco retail reform, increased Aboriginal workforce in cancer services, no chemotherapy co-payments, coordinated cancer care and more palliative care services. Changes in these areas of policy will bolster prevention measures, and increase quality of life for cancer patients and their carers.
A local group of Cancer Council volunteers, the Hunter Cancer Action Network (CAN), have organised this Candidates Forum so that members of the public can hear from the major candidates about their position on the Vision For Change.
Candidates from the Charlestown, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and Wallsend electorates will be present.
All members of the public are welcome and RSVPs are essential.
