2500 km in a tinny? You don’t have to be crazy to do the Murray Charity Meander!
Do you have a sense of adventure, a sense of humour and desire to raise funds for those less fortunate? Mind you a boat, boat license and a few mates to form a team, and you too could get involved!
The Murray Charity Meander sees participating teams take on the full length of the legendary Murray River over three years. In 2015 teams start the fourth lap of the river, travelling 735kms from Bringenbrong Bridge to Echuca Moama in a little tinny!
This is not a race. More a contest of wits, ingenuity and social endurance and is an excellent opportunity for community minded people to raise funds for cancer and enjoy a week-long trip on the magnificent Murray River.
The Murray Charity Meander supports the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia which funds oncology nursing scholarships nationally and the Otis Foundation which provides free retreat accommodation for women with breast cancer.
The 2014 the event attracted a field drawn from Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and from across regional Australia. Since the first Meander in 2006, the event has raised more than $1,000,000 for various charities.
