DO Supports
The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only association in NSW/ACT working to support people living with all types of motor neurone disease, their families and carers.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells- neurones controlling the muscles that enable us to move around, speak, and breathe and swallow- fail to work.
With no nerves to activate them, muscles gradually weaken and waste. The patterns of weakness vary from person to person.
The cause of MND is not known and at present there is no cure. However encouraging progress is being made by co-ordinated research across the world.
