On Sunday 7 December, thousands of Melbourne women will unite in St Kilda’s Catani Gardens to run or walk the 29th Sussan Women’s Fun Run to support Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
The event is Australia’s largest women’s-only fun run and last year a record-breaking 6500 participants raised an incredible $250,000 for charity partner BCNA. Event organisers SuperSprint are hoping more than 8500 women will take part this year across the half-marathon, 10 km and 5 km events.
Held on the first weekend of summer on the St Kilda foreshore, the event brings together mothers, daughters, grandmothers and groups of girlfriends of all ages who want to get active for a good cause.
The 2014 event will see the introduction of a 500m mini fun run for girls aged four to seven. BCNA will also hold a Tribute Field of Pink Lady silhouettes with participants encouraged to plant a pink lady silhouette in memory or support of a loved one affected by breast cancer.
