DO Details

The Villa Maria and Transurban Out & About Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday, November 30, at Albert Park Lake and gives everyone the opportunity to experience life as it should be – 100 per cent accessible.

It includes a huge line-up of free entertainment and activities, including special guests Tim Ferguson – a newly-appointed Out & About Ambassador, and one of Australia's most loved singer/songwriters, Kate Ceberano.

There will be free all-abilities sports and activities at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, an all-abilities walk around Albert Park Lake, and a pop-up sensory garden designed and built by Swinburne University students.

In addition, there will be an all-abilities 'flash mob', roving entertainers, more live performances and a great Aussie sausage sizzle.

The event also promotes Villa Maria's Australian-first accessibility app, Out & About – Accessing Your Community, which lists accessible venues and events across Melbourne.

Currently available for iPhone, the app will be released for Android in October. The Out & About App and Family Fun Day won the 2014 Victorian Disability Sector Award for Excellence in Improving Participation.
