Following the resounding success of The Asian Executive’s inaugural Melbourne Spring Racing charity ball last year, it has green-lighted a worthy sequel. This event will be a marvelous event with class entertainment, larger guest numbers and more opportunity to bring Asia and Australia together during one of Australia’s most important calendar festival events.
The centrepiece of the evening is a performance from the theatrical production of Strictly Ballroom that is now playing in Sydney. This tragi-comedy is deeply moving love story between two star-crossed lovers, from two different cultures brings the best of ballroom dancing in the middle of Australia’s most prestigious ballroom – The Palladium at Crown.
The Asian Executive has given instructions to Crown Resorts to configure its massive and elegant ballroom to allow maximum opportunity for dancing, chatting and joviality at the eve of one of the world's richest and most exciting horse races, the 2014 Emirates Melbourne Cup.
Last year’s event drew overseas corporate guests from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Macau. With its reputation now preceding it, this event will draw even more interest for to be part of a very memorable event.
Those who attended last year' event witnessed gracious guest of honour Gai Waterhouse speak about her aspirations to win the one major trophy that has eluded her – the Melbourne Cup. The Asian Executive went out of its way to theme the room in the colours of her horse, Fiorente in purples and blacks. A mere two weeks later, Gai stood at the winner's podium holding her trophy as the glorious victor of the Melbourne Cup with Fiorente and legendary jockey, Damien Oliver!
This year’s event has been officially endorsed by the Victorian Racing Club and information about the event is being circulated to thousands of its members.
The event is also being supported by one of Australia’s largest employer representative organisations, VECCI through its impressive database.
2014 marks the year when the champion Japanese horse, Bande competes in Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival. The last time a Japanese horse raced on Australian turf was in 2006 of which the winners, Japanese horses, Delta Blues and Pop Blue drew huge respect and adulation from the Flemington Racing Club’s packed crowd for a thrilling quinella win.
