Dear Colleague and Supporter

In June 2014 the three Victorian PLHIV organisations - Living Positive Victoria, Positive Women Victoria and Straight Arrows committed to look for new operational and governance structural options that prioritise the Greater Involvement of People living with HIV (GIPA) principles.

As someone who has demonstrated a special commitment and interest to the needs of people living with HIV in Victoria we would like to invite you to an initial briefing and discussion on Wednesday 27 August 2014 to discuss some options of moving forward which could see more synergies between the Coventry House partners.

The general principles and expected benefits that any new structural options have been agreed by all the three organisations. These principles include a commitment to diversity and increased representation of positive voices, peer support models that are efficient, effective and sustainable, the capacity to develop new service models, strengthening of governance capacity, increasing and strengthening financial sustainability, building efficiencies in required reporting and ensuring that tangible health outcomes link across our communities of people living with HIV.

As part of the process and options development moving forward - Alison Hallahan, a consultant supported by the Victorian Department of Health, has been chairing and helping us in guiding the discussions. Alison will join us on Wednesday 27 August to outline the progress and options and facilitate discussions.

This briefing and discussion session will begin the first stage in a wider discussion with the community of people living with HIV in Victoria. Additional community input from members of the three participating organisations and affected communities will also be essential in considering and shaping options and moving forward.
