Hopeland Foundation is a charity organisation in Kenya along the coast of Lake Victoria. Hopeland Foundation currently has a school attended by 20 students and we support 22 other orphans in the community by paying for their school and medical fees. This fundraiser is being run to raise money for Hopeland Foundation’s annual costs but also so we can eventually set-up our orphanage and also set up a HIV Community Centre. We have a few other initiatives we want to also run but for now setting up an orphanage and a HIV Community Centre address the most prominent needs of the community in Gingo, Homabay where Hopeland works. The Homabay area continually faces one of the highest prevalence of HIV/AIDs in Kenya. There is hope though, and check out our website for more information on Hopeland, what we’re doing and what we want to achieve: http://hopelandfoundation.wix.com/hopeland
It will be at Nyala African Restaurant [http://nyala.com.au/index.html] on Sunday 14th September for a huge lunch banquet. If you’ve never had African food- come try it. If you have- then you must know how delicious and filling it is, and surely want an opportunity to eat more! Let me know of any dietry requirements you have and I'll be sure to pass them onto Nyala.
Your donation to this event will be tax deductible, courtesy of Rotary.
