| Theona Combos on Friday, 19 Sep 2025 11:49am My mum got Dementia at age 65 and died at 81. This insidious disease ruined her life by taking away her abilities, independence, memories and so much more. It was heartbreaking watching her deteriorate and for the last 6 years of her life she could not walk or talk - that's how cruel dementia treated her. Yet she enjoyed music, company, and communicated with her eyes and sounds and especially loved eating caramel tarts. Dear mum. How I miss the woman she was, even when she disagreed with everything I did! That's another story. I promised her we would fundraise for a cure to help answer the question she asked early on - 'Why am I like this?'. We want answers and we hope that supporting PhD students with their research that one day - within a conversation or sharing of research - that the spark to the cure will be found. Fingers crossed. |
