DO Supports
SASCWA is a small grassroots charitable organisation started in 2005 by a group of South Australians. SASCWA provides support to communities in Assam, a state in north-east India that is home to hundreds of indigenous communities who live in poor conditions with high infant and child mortality, no electricity, no clean protected water supply, and limited local health facilities. Literacy rates are very low and the few existing schools are poorly equipped.
SASCWA assists the villages by supporting a range of projects including setting up and funding schools in remote villages, agricultural projects and support for public health initiatives.
