Oxley Creek Paddle Against Plastic by OCCA - Has Ended
DO Details
Thanks to funding from the legends at Oxley Creek Catchment Association through the Queensland Government's Community Sustainability Action Grants, we are heading to the Oxley Creek Common, a beautiful part of the river to paddle. This part of the creek has a lot of debris washed in from surrounding streets and due to the area flooding it is up on the banks, as well as stuck in the trees that have fallen in the river.
We will have two sessions, one at 1000, and one at 1130 so more people can have a play. You need to book a ticket for your preferred time slot. You can rent one of our kayaks for a small fee or BYO craft. If you BYO you may join at any time for as long as they like.
This is a child friendly event and we encourage you to bring the family along to help them understand that keeping our waterways clean is essential for the wellbeing of marine life. Last year we even saw small turtles in the river!!!
Meet at the Oxley Creek Common and we'll launch using the pontoon down the hill. We'll provide all the cleaning tools however please wear appropriate clothing such as long pants and sleeves, hat and shoes you don't mind getting wet and muddy as you are liekly to need to get out of the craft to clean properly.
