This October, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland is inviting you to hold a Sweet and Salty Kitchen to stir up some good. It’s a fun and delicious way to take a bite out of cystic fibrosis.
What is Sweet and Salty Kitchen?
Sweet and Salty Kitchen is a home-based fundraiser where you cook up a storm for your friends and family using recipes from the cystic fibrosis diet. We’ve created a cookbook here you can get inspiration from, but there are other great examples on this website, and here as well.
Why ‘Sweet and Salty'?
The sweet reflects the need for nutritionally-dense calories in the cystic fibrosis diet to avoid developing eating fatigue and the salty is reference to the loss of sodium and chloride (the two compounds that make up salt) in their sweat, especially with exercise, hot weather, fevers and infections.
If you or someone you know is living with cystic fibrosis, then you understand the need for a diet high in sweet and salty nutrition. We hope this event gives you a chance to talk to those closest to you about why this diet is so important.
We’ve created some fun resources to help you plan your ‘Sweet and Salty’ menu.
Don’t wait – sign up today and get planning to stir up some good for people living with cystic fibrosis. We can’t wait to see our amazing community come together and cook for our cause.
