Give Them a Future - Has Ended

On the 3rd of September 2021, Dunlea Centre will be holding a fundraising lunch with 2 main aims;

1. Increase our ability to support females in education

2. Build awareness in the community about how we support at risk youth

Dunlea Centre, Australia’s Original Boys’ Town, is an independent Catholic specialised co-educational secondary school and residential service for at risk young people with a focus on family engagement. The Centre is a registered and an accredited school endorsed by NESA, providing stages 4, 5 & 6 (7-12) of the current NSW curriculum. The residential program provides a structured and balanced setting where there is an emphasis upon assisting young people establish healthy habits and routines. The emphasis is upon developing social skills, which can be utilised across all aspects of a young person’s life.

Dunlea Centre in 2010 identified a need in the community to support females disengaged in education and requiring additional family support. A female residential program was established using funds generated by the agencies. This has continued for the past 10 years, however so has the need to increase capacity of supporting females in the community.

Dunlea Centre is fortunate to inherit great resources/facilities, however does not generate enough to support an additional female house, even though we have the physical resource available on-site, so we have decided to try to generate this through community support.

We do not expect to fundraise the full cost in a single fundraising event, however we do believe by building community awareness we can work towards this goal.

We are looking to the community to help support us, so that we can support young people in need.
