Why Feminism and Climate Justice?

Climate change is an intergenerational, gender and social injustice. It disproportionately impacts the most marginalised – many of whom rely on natural resources for their livelihoods and food – whilst having the fewest resources to respond to natural disasters and a changing climate. Women and children make up the majority of these populations, and yet are often left out of climate-related policy-making and planning. When policies are implemented without women and children’s meaningful participation, it can increase existing inequalities and decrease effectiveness of climate initiatives. It is the goal the Women’s Climate Justice Collective to raise awareness of this important link between intersectional feminism and climate justice, and to support work that amplifies the voices of the most vulnerable to lead on action for climate justice.

This event will not be catered, however you are welcome to BYO drinks and snacks. Those bringing alcohol will be asked to show ID at the door.

The venue is wheelchair accessible and Auslan interpreters will accompany performances. Please get in touch with any accessibility needs to

Children are welcome, however please note that performances may include adult content.

We would like to acknowledge that this event will be taking place on stolen Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung/Bunurong land, and pay respects to Elders past, present and emerging. The fight for climate justice is led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we'd like to pay tribute to the work of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people fighting to protect their country.
