DO Details

Whether you are a serious cricketer or just like to have a bit of fun, this will be a great way to spend Australia Day 2021.

You can enter as a corporate team or a team of mates. Teams can also be made up of male and female players. There is to only be 8 players on the field when playing, but you can have as many interchanges from "off the bench" as you like!

Each team will play a minimum of 2 games of 8 over cricket. These will be followed by Semi Finals and then the Final where the 2 best teams will battle it out for the Australia Day Cricket Challenge Shield.

Most importantly, a number of Backyard Cricket Rules will apply.

  • If it nicks the bat, you have to run
  • One hand, one bounce
  • Sledging and ball tampering is encouraged

Get into the spirit

To make the day colorful and extra fun, we hoping everyone will get into the Australia Day spirit. There will be prizes for:

  • BEST DRESSED TEAM: We encourage each team to have their own uniforms. It could just be your corporate polos or you could have a bit of fun and dress up in theme....maybe some stubbies and thongs or a whole team of Merv Hughes'.
  • BEST SUPPORTER TENT: We're hoping to see full on Australia Day theme supporter tents/marquees around the field. Think flags, bunting, hanging thongs, inflatable kangaroos...why not even an wading pool or some totem tennis!

There'll also be some games and competitions between cricket matches, so get your arm ready for some thong throwing and a tug-o-war.

Special guests

There will be Queensland cricketing greats, former Wallabies and other sporting legends there on the day to help out on the field when needed.

Food & drink

Your supporter tent/marquee can be self catered - bring your own BBQ to fire up, a picnic hamper, and an Esky full of drinks. The Clubhouse will also be open on the day selling food and drinks.

What to bring

BYO tent/marquee for your supporters plot along with chairs, picnic blankets, eskies and whatever else you need for a true Australia Day!

You can also bring your own cricket equipment if you have it - bats, gloves and pads. If you don't have your own, equipment will be available from the Cricket Club.

Make sure you also pack a hat and plenty of sunscreen.

Finally - bring all your friends, colleagues and family to cheer you on or sub for you if necessary!

Help raise a few extra dollars

An awesome, and very easy way to raise a few extra dollars for White Cloud Foundation is by setting up an online fundraising page. You can challenge your other team members with who can raise the most, or get super competitive by showing up the other teams.

Its so easy to set up, and all you need to do then is share your page on social media and send a link by email to your contacts. You will be genuinely surprised by the donations you receive. It will make you feel a little warm and fuzzy and you will also be helping a great cause. To get started, simply click here.

Where does the money from the event go?

All money raised through the Australia Day Cricket Challenge will be used to fund White Foundation's practical support programs for people living with or at risk of developing depression. These programs include:

  • Meals for Mums - a service that delivers nutritious meals to the homes of mothers battling perinatal depression
  • FUNDAMENTALS - a service that supports men and women with or at risk of developing depression by providing them practical help for the underlying cause of their stress or worries. This can includes budgeting help to manage finances, career assistance for those who have lost their job, social connection through Steaks with Mates, or just someone to mow the lawn when things are just too much.

Every $150 raised means we can support another mum with meals or someone through FUNDAMENTALS and make a world of difference to them and their families.
