Virtual Walk throughout November

On Remembrance Day, the 11th day of the 11th month we are asking you to walk/run 11kms to remember our fallen or injured heroes and ensure Legacy Families in South Australia and Broken Hill left behind do not suffer after the loss of a loved one who served our country.

Set a goal, which you could achieve in many ways, as a team you can split the mileage between you or you can walk 1.5kms starting on Friday 6.11.2020, when the physical event is on and then each day until 11.11.2020.  You can walk anywhere, anytime, whether in Broken Hill or Ceduna or any of our other regional areas, join us through social pages and/or strava to get your walk/run counted.

We encourage you to walk in a team, encourage your family, friends, school buddies, or work colleagues to join you, or take the opportunity to walk alone in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Go further with you challenge, raise vital funds for Legacy, raise $100 to get one free entry to the physical event at The Torrens Parade Ground on Friday 6th November.

With the year that it has been, first with the Bushfires and now with COVID, our Legacy Families need our help now more than ever.  The isolation, the restrictions, the loss of property and all their belongings, the loss of jobs, and the economic loss has brought back so many suppressed memories which our Legacy widows need our help to cope with, please dig deep, ask your friends and family to help you reach your goal – show our Legacy families they have not been forgotten!

Rally the troops and enlist today!

Legacy’s Remembrance Walk brings an opportunity to pay tribute and remember the sacrifices made by our once serving members of the Australian Defence Force, our heroes and their families.

Just like our Legacy family, with our youngest only 5 years old to our oldest who turned 108 years old; the demographics of participants in 2019 was diverse. Ranging from city commuters, families, current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force, Government departments, schools, clubs, corporate businesses and many defence-related enterprises that provide goods and services directly to Defence, and deliver into the supply chains of prime contractors in South Australia, the defence state.

On Friday 6 November 2020, we ask you to take an hour from your morning to be a part of our unique Remembrance Walk. Starting at the Torrens Parade Ground, meet at 7:00 am for a 7:30 am start with a minute’s silence, then follow the Australian Light Horse Brigade mounted troops for a walk of 1.5 km's up King William Street, around Government House, along North Terrace, turning at Kintore Avenue to walk along the ANZAC Centenary Memorial Walk path and finishing back at the Parade Grounds with a Legacy BBQ breakfast and opportunity to say "thank you".

School Communities have two options; Option one, you are welcome to join us at the Torrens Parade Ground or Option two, hold a Remembrance Walk in your school ground or local area. We encourage schools, local, country and rural, to get behind Legacy in making Remembrance Day a part of the curriculum, to engage students to remember our Defence servicemen and women and their families.

Play your part and help make a difference, REGISTER online or contact Legacy House on 8231 9812 or events@legacyadelaide.org.au.
