Damage to one of Wangaratta’s most treasured possessions, the Wangaratta's Holy Trinity Cathedral organ, has left a beloved regional music program diminished.
The damage caused by rats chewing the bellows, has created a $120,000 repair bill that has rendered the organ completely disabled.
A fundraiser recital is being held Sunday 10th of November from 4:30pm - 5:50pm at St Peter’s Church, Eastern Hill Melbourne. All proceeds of the recital will go toward the repair bill for this iconic organ. This community-lead event endeavours to make a significant dent in the extranomical repair bill.
The recital will comprise of a fine performance of organ and cello music including Bach, Marchand and Saint Saëns, played on a beautiful Baroque style organ. The musicians featured for the fundraiser include Rhys Arvidson, Hugh Fullarton, Nicholas Owens on the organs; and Nicholas McManus on cello. The performance will be followed by free champagne and canapes.
