DO Details

The Sydney to Surfers Ride is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Engadine sponsored by Macsim Fastening Systems to raise funds for Father Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets.

This popular event is a fully supported bike ride over 7 days with participants cycling an average of around 140 kilometres each day through some of the best scenery the east coast can offer.

We're very excited that the 2020 ride will be the twenty-second anniversary of the event which was first run in 1998 and has raised well over $3 million for Youth Off The Streets.

The ride: This is a fully supported ride for 7 days with an average daily distance of approximately 140 kilometres, split into 3 sessions.  Morning Tea and 3 meals a day plus a tent site each evening are supplied as well as Group Vehicle support during the ride, daily briefings, and ride marshals to help you as needed. Adult riders of all ages able to average 20 kilometres per hour are most welcome on the ride. Riders may choose to arrange their own motel accommodation instead of camping.

Entry fee: The cost of the 2020 ride entry fee is $1,500 per person. The ride entry fee can be reduced by $1,000 (to $500) if you take the opportunity to raise at least $2,000 in donations to support the work of Father Chris Riley’s Youth of the Streets. For a fully supported 7-day cycle tour, that’s a bargain! A deposit of $300 is required on entry through this page. The balance of the ride entry fee will be due on 1st April 2020.

What you will need:  Your own bike, helmet, basic tool kit, tyres and tubes, clothing for variable weather, swimming clothes, camping gear including tent, personal toiletries, and any other personal items that you may require including medications etc.

Fundraising prize:  Every rider who raises at least $2,000 in donations (not including the ride fee) will automatically receive one entry into the draw for a major fundraising prize. An additional entry will be made for each $500 raised over and above the $2,000 target.

Riders insurance:  Personal Insurance is the riders responsibility, and you are not covered by the Rotary Insurance Policy.  State based cycling organisations usually offer personal accident, thrid party property and public liability insurance as part of their membership packages.
