The 2019 Big Sleep Out event is our inaugral fundraiser for the Bunbury InTown Centre.
The event has been created to raise both funds and awareness for homelessness, and gives teams and individuals from across our community the opportunity to experience a night sleeping under the stars at the Graham Bricknell Soundshell in Bunbury, a location known as a safe sleeping spot for our homeless population.
Homelessness is a hidden crisis in our community, with "rough sleepers" forming only a small number of the population who experience unstable or unsafe housing. Many families and individuals couch hop, stay with friends and family, sleep in cars or in short-term accomodation. On any given day, around 9,000 people are homeless in WA.
By experiencing a night sleeping as our homeless do, we hope to raise awareness and much needed funds, to assist our most vulnerable community members, through increased programs and outreach services.

What is the fundraising goal?
We ask you to aim for a minimum of $250 per person for both teams and individuals.
Can I register as a team or an individual?
We encourage both individuals and teams. Teams are capped at 8 people per team. All members are encouraged to particiapte in the sleep out.

When should I deposit the funds raised by myself or my team?
Please deposit the funds no later than Friday the 5th of July 2019.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Please bring photo ID with you. School children must be accompanied by a parent or teacher over 18 years old
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is available across the road from BREC or on Cobblestone Drive
What can I bring into the event?
A sleeping bag and pillow. Phones and tablets are fine as we ask you to share your expereince on social media. Please wear warm clothing.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
No - registered participants cannot change
Can I drink alcohol or smoke at the event?
No - this is an alcohol and smoke free event
Can I bring food to the event?
No - a meal will be provided at the event, with the aim being to keep the experience as authentic as possible. NB if you have a medical condition and require food please advise the registration team when you sign in
Can I bring animals to the event?
Registered service animals (such as guide or assistance dogs) are acceptable, domestic pets are not allowed
Is the event safe?
The event will be monitored by security and there will be people awake throughout the event to ensure a safe environment
