Angela Talor RunWalk - Has Ended
DO Details
The Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk was started in 1989. This is community event that welcomes individual runners or walkers, juniors, nippers, veterans and seniors. There’s a category to match all levels of fitness.
At 1.00pm on Thursday the 27 March 1986, a car bomb exploded outside the police complex in Russell Street Melbourne. As a result, young Constable Angela Rose Taylor took the full force of the explosion and later died in hospital. Angela Rose Taylor is, and will remain a symbol of all that is good in the police. Angela was committed to helping others in the community, our police and emergency services continue to demonstrate those values. The Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk continues to be held in her honour.
Your participation will assist the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation to continue its valuable work. The proceeds for this years event will assist us in funding a Critical Circulatory Support Service at Eastern Health’s Box Hill Hospital in honour of Victoria Police Officers who have died in the line of duty. This new service will be led by Eastern Health’s Cardiology and Intensive Care Unit teams. The funding will deliver equipment and establish a training centre to enable Eastern Health to provide artificial heart-lung support.
This is the first hospital project we have dedicated to all 164 Police Officers that have died in the line of duty and it is the largest community project we have funded. This couldn’t be achieved without your support.
