Amazonian Charity Concert and Auction - Chain of Love - Has Ended
DO Details
Dear Friends
As we speak deforestation in the Amazon is in progress. It’s not only the land that is at risk of being lost to commercial agricultural developers but also; the local communities ability to live off the land and their connections to ancestral traditions, the animals natural migration pathways, crucial food resources and the largest natural plant-life pharmacy in the world. We must move fast to protect this fragile ecosystem.
In the North east of Peru, 1hr boat ride from the Amazonian town of Iquitos, Jorge Hachumak medicine man and healer established a healing retreat in 2012. He has continued to secure surrounding land with a vision to create a registered animal and plant-life sanctuary. He is a respected member of the community, supporting the school, providing work opportunities and sharing his healing abilities, he has become a trusted spokesperson for the local people to ensure their ongoing cultural preservation.
A valuable resource of an elevated plateau of virgin rainforest boarding the amazon river has recently become available to purchase from Don Pablo, a 70yr old community member. He wants to entrust his family's land to Jorge who he knows will preserve the area, and not the commercial agricultural developers who will clear-cut and excavate it to become another industrial port.

We need your help, as time is running out for Jorge, to secure this pristine and unique stretch of jungle along the Peruvian Amazon River.
