Luce Fit Australia is running a Fundraiser for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation: Back Off Brain Cancer: One of our nearest and dearest member Alice Dunn is currently on the journey of supporting her Mum through Brain Cancer and after talking to Alice couldn't believe some of the statistics. We are opening our facility up to the public (Men & Women) so we can raise as much awareness and funds for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation as possible! We will be running 45min functional group training sessions (each class capped at x 30 - tickets must be pre-bought) on the Grand Final Public Holiday! So purchase your ticket with some friends and workout for a good cause! Alice's Story:

"After living an incredibly healthy life, being a vegetarian since she was 18, a lover of distance running and avid gym goer, my mum was diagnosed brain cancer in November of 2016 (at the age of 54).
I guess everyone always thinks these sorts of things won’t happen to them, but given the healthy lifestyle my mum had always practiced and the fact that she didn’t have any symptoms- it came as a real shock! It was even more shocking to us that we were then told that there were limited treatment options and that with brain cancer, unlike any other form of cancer, there was no hope of remission. Therefore- Mum was given the choice of trying traditional invasive treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy but they weren’t guaranteed to have any affect on the cancer. The best case scenario was they would stall its progression- but statistics show that only 1 in 5 people diagnosed will live longer than 5 years post diagnosis. This 5 year survival rate has not changed in 30 years,  With all the federal funding that cancer research receives, brain cancer receives less than 5%. A truly unfathomable statistic seeing as, in Australia, brain cancer kills more children than any other disease & more people under 40 than any other cancer. Therefore, fundraisers such as this are so crucial not only to fund much needed research but also to raise public awareness.  As cliche as it sounds, my mum’s diagnosis has certainly changed my perspective on life somewhat. It’s taught me that you cannot take your good health for granted, that there is always something to be grateful for and that you should never go without telling the people you love how much they mean to you.  My mum misses having the capacity to exercise so much- always be thankful that your body is capable of being pushed and challenged the way it is at Luce Fit- not everyone has that luxury, it should be cherished!" - Alice Dunn  All fund on the day will go to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. We thank-you for you support and we hope to see you at Luce Fit on the day! Lucy Brennan
