Shane O'Brien was a loving and devoted husband and daddy, a son, a brother, a mate, a neighbour, a work colleague, fellow sportsman and an ASTHMATIC, a condition that killed him in October 2001.
At age 35 Shane had it all. Life was 'very normal', a fulfilling and challenging job with Boral Australia as Maintenance Manager with many future prospects. But most of all, the most important part of his life, his family. A foundation in his memory the "Shane O'Brien Memorial Asthma Foundation", formed in March 2002.
The Shane O’Brien Memorial Asthma Foundation has begun its 2017 fundraising campaign. Through the support, commitment and generosity shown to our foundation from our supporters and donors, we have raised just over $425,000 in the last fifteen years. The funds raised have helped provide Barwon Health and the Geelong community with much needed equipment and education around Asthma and other respiratory related diseases.
