As feminists of a new generation, we have been brought up to understand the ever growing role of women in society and the impact we can make on its development as individuals. We have read the books, walked alongside one another in the marches, signed the petitions and always voiced our concerns. However, there constantly seems to be a part of us that never feels like it is enough and we find ourselves asking ‘What Is Next?’. We are honoured to say that we can help you answer this question. We would like to introduce to you a woman who has not only asked these questions, but has also answered and achieved them at a level that will inspire people on a global scale.

We have the privilege of welcoming Safak Pavey. Safak is known for her international work on human rights, humanitarian aid and for becoming the first ever disabled female member of the Turkish Parliament. In 2012, she received the US Secretary of State's International Women of Courage Award from Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton. This was awarded for her work with persons with disabilities, vulnerable populations, women, children and minorities around the world. Safak has agreed to be a part of a one-off talk for us, where she will discuss the problems she was forced to face, from the early stages of her life, and how she overcame them. More importantly, we hope that her story will catalyse and inspire thoughts within the minds of all women and non-binary people who seek to continue fighting for equality.

We have come a long way in the fight for equality, but as many of you know, there is more to fight for. While the developments of women’s right are seen to be ‘enough’ for some, we are here to establish that Enough Is Not Equal. This night is an inclusive event and through the teachings of Safak Pavey, we hope to re-establish the feminist fire in all of you to ensure that we continue standing up against discrimination and thereby, have a voice for ALL.

The intention of the night is to share Safak Pavey’s story with you in a talk format. We hope that by asking questions and opening a forum for discussion, Safak’s experiences, advice and presence will demonstrate that this is all worth fighting for. If you feel inspired by these words then we encourage you to buy a ticket and experience the brilliance of Safak Pavey first-hand.

Due to the size of the space and the short notice, we only 70 tickets that are available at $15 each (plus a small booking fee at $1.91). This is a non-profit event and proceeds will be used to donate to the Association for the Support of Contemporary Living (Turkish: Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği), a non-profit organisation helping young women across Turkey obtain an education.
