Maneenoot (Noot) Themjai was born to a Buddhist family in Phrae, northern Thailand. Noot grew up in a poor community in the countryside. She lived with her parents until the age of nine, when they moved to Bangkok in search of work, leaving Noot in the care of her grandparents.
Life was devoid of hope. Living in a community that was rife with poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, gambling, and prostitution, Noot did not dream about the future. At the age of six she was registered into the Compassion project at the local church, and it was during this time that she was first introduced to Jesus. She began to learn about and get to know God. Life began to change.
