ABOUT the Project:
In June 2018, Co-Founders Vanessa and Shona will be returning to Africa again for 2 weeks to visit the Uthando House Place of Safety. This year they will be joined by a new member to SAVE Projects, Will Bechly.
Profits from this event will go towards the building of a new playground at Uthando House.
Playground equipment is a given thing in our childrens home environments and backyards, but the children at Uthando House have very limited access to outdoor play areas and are unable to participate in excursions to parks and playgrounds like we would with our own children here in Australia.
A Playground allows children to interact with other peers, the outdoor elements and make up their own play, we believe it is vital for a child’s cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development.
The social aspects of a playground means children learn to take turns and exercise self-control waiting for a swing to open up and they can start up conversations with their peers.
Physically a child can overcome fears and with that comes a sense of accomplish which can lead to self-confidence and an increase in self-esteem.
And mentally, a playground can be a place where a child may feel safe and happy, allowing for channels of communication to open and the healing process to begin.
SAVE Projects have helped with the build of a similar Playground at The Child Development Centre, you can find information on that Project HERE.
If you are unable to attend our event but wish to make a contribution to the Playground build, you can do so HERE.
All donations are Tax Deductible.
