Communicating for our Common Cause

By popular demand we are hosting an introductory session on Common Cause (values and frames).

The Common Cause Foundation (UK) was established after a large body of research was conducted into the interaction between values and the work done by charity organisations.

Values and the frame in which we communicate them is central to leading people to express concern about social and environmental issues.

This session is an introduction to that research and how you can apply it to all the work you do as a group or organisation; plus how as a movement we can support each other to embrace the findings.

We strongly encourage you to watch this TEDx talk to get a basic overview of some of that research before attending. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcD3lS3Utew

Facilitated by Amy Matheson, communicator and campaigner from Barefoot Briefs and the Wilderness Society and Kylie Wrigley sustainability educator and organiser on the PCOC committee

As always, tea, coffee and snacks will be provided on the night. Please bring a donation and invite a fellow organiser, campaigner or activist to join us.

“Community Organising is a process of building power through training and supporting leaders to activate their community, build effective teams and create solutions to identified problems. Strong personal relationships and motivational story telling are the foundation of community organising whilst the process of strategising and winning campaigns help strengthen and maintain community empowerment.”
