Walk for Water - Has Ended
DO Details
In some of the world’s poorest communities, it’s normal for women and children to walk for hours just to collect water. In fact, 263 million people worldwide spend over 30 minutes per round trip to collect water from a safe source. This is a problem that primarily affects women and girls, who are responsible for water collection in eight out of ten households that don’t have access to water on their premises. In some of the world’s poorest communities, it’s normal for women and children to walk for hours just to collect water. To mark World Water Day on 22 March, WaterAid is inviting Australians to walk in solidarity with those who need to walk long distances to collect water. Challenge yourself to walk 10,000 steps a day with your colleagues, classmates or friends to raise money for people who walk too much.
Sign up your workplace, your school, or your friends and walk together from 19-23 March.
