Tennis4Help is an idea that I have had for some time now and I am finally taking the leap of faith to kick start it and see how it goes. I love tennis (as well as other sports and physical activites that contribute positively to my health and well-being) and am always keen to meet new people for a social tennis match which is hard nowadays with the busy lives we all have. Above all, I always wanted, one way or another, to be able to contribute and give back to the community and especially to groups that could really use some extra help.

This is the start of a social tennis competition with the main and only objective being to bring people who like tennis together and have the same mindset of contributing and giving back to the community.

Tennis4Help is a private social tennis competition for people living in Sydney (within a ~30km radius from the CDB) who would like to participate in a tennis competition throughout the year.

Anyone (male/female) with a keen interest in tennis and at any level is welcome to enrol to this competition.

This is a 45 week competition and all enrolled players will have to play a tennis match, following a draw at the beginning of the competition, each week. The date in the week, time and venue will need to be mutually decided between the players. Fees for the venues where the tennis matches will take place will need to be paid in half by the corresponding players.

Since this is a non for profit private and for charity only competition, all the registration fees will be collected and stored securely through this well-known platform (Eventbrite) and at the end of the competition the player who will be at the top of the ladder will decide which charity he/she wants to donate the funds (the sum of all the registration fees) to.

Enrollments start today and will continue until the beginning of the competition (05 February 2018).

Please communicate to your friends, colleagues, relatives or people you know they like tennis as the more people we manage to get on board the more challenging and fun this competition will get and the more drive we will all have in winning and donating all the registration fees to the charity of our preference.

NO ADMINISTRATON FEES OR OTHER HIDDEN COSTS EXIST FOR THIS COMPETITION

Process

- If you are interested, please enroll to participate to the Tennis4Help Competition.

- If you have friends who are interested in playing tennis or giving back to the community or both please invite them to participate. You will have the chance to see each other on the court.

- Try your best throughout the competition to be the one who finishes at the top of the ladder and gets to choose his/her charity of choice to donate the sum of the registration fees to.

Rules

- Players coordinate between themselves each week on the date of the week, time and venue they want to hold the match

- Best of 5 sets award the winner (details on who is keeping score, tie-breaks etc need to be agreed between the players prior to the match)

- Both players need to agree on the final score of the match (sets and games only) and communicate it back to the organiser (myself) weekly

- Winner gets 3 points in the ladder

- Not winner gets no points in the ladder

- If for whatever reason any of the players or both can't make it for a match at any given week then both players get 1 point each in the ladder and need to communicate back to the organiser (myself) accordingly.

Note: since this is a private initiative there will be continuous adjustment of the rules as well as the communication format between all the participants in order to ensure we will have a successful competition.

DO Supports

I am Timos Lolis and I have been playing tennis on and off since the age of 5. Through tennis I have managed to meet incredible people from all around the world who I am lucky to have in my life one way or another until today. I am a professional engineer and I work full-time for a big Australian food company. Tennis4Help is not my work. I decided to give this a go because I like the sport, I like meeting new people and above all I want to make a positive contribution to the community by creating the platform that will assist other people to do the same.
