Emergency Planning for Homelessness Service Providers in Byron Shire - Has Ended
DO Details
Red Cross invites homelessness service providers to attend a workshop on planning for emergencies. Many of your clients are particularly vulnerable during disasters. While service providers may have and practice emergency plans and procedures, often these plans are not designed to deal with the complex challenges your clients might face during an emergency.
This workshop will provide you with information and tips to better prepare your organisation for emergencies. It will encourage services to share experiences around ways to work with clients to increase their resilience to, and preparedness for, emergencies.
This is a unique opportunity to draw upon the expertise of emergency services and to further develop your emergency management plan with agencies such as the NSW Rural Fire Service, SES, Fire & Rescue NSW, and NSW Police.
The workshop will address questions such as:
-
What is the role of emergency services during an event?
- How can we prepare for events that happen very quickly?
-
How are we responsible to staff and clients during an event?
-
How can we work with clients to increase their preparedness through service delivery?
-
Are there issues specific to our service type or location we should consider?
Bring: Your existing emergency management plan (if you have one)
