MELBOURNE LEGACY'S 87TH ANNUAL ANZAC COMMEMORATION FOR STUDENTS

Join thousands of other students in keeping the ANZAC Spirit alive by commemorating the centenary of ANZAC and the sacrificies made by men and women who have served our country.

The Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria has been invited to address the students and the ceremony will include Defence Force Cadets, school band & choir and a RAAF fly-over.

  • Students are encouraged to honour deceased relatives by wearing medals on their right hand side

  • As a symbol of remembrance, attendees will receive a sprig of rosemary

  • A program handed out on the day will outline the order of service

  • Two students from each school are invited to lay a floral tribute from their school during the ceremony (if bringing students from more than one year level then additional floral tributes can laid (max two per year level)

  • Schools are invited to display their banners and join a banner procession to conclude the ceremony

  • Bus parking is available on Birdwood Avenue & St Kilda Road eastern lane between ANZAC Ave and Domain Road

  • Please provide water containers, hats, sunscreen and/or wet weather gear

After this special Legacy service teachers and their students are invited inside the Shrine of Remembrance (via the Visitor Centre Courtyard) to view the Shrine Crypt and Galleries of Remembrance or lay a poppy at the Stone of Remembrance in the Sanctuary. DO Supports

Legacy is the only organisation of its type in the world.  Founded in 1923 on the ANZAC tradition of mateship, compassion, fairness and honesty, Legacy began with a mate's promise to a dying soldier on a battlefield during World War One 'to look after the missus and kids'.  The organisation's role continues to evolve to accommodate changing needs, including those families of veterans dealing with the impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  People of all ages are dependent on the services of Legacy from babies to elderly widows, many who are over 100 years of age.  Through the generosity of public donations, Legacy's dedicated personal service through its volunteer Legatees ensures ex-defence Force families facing hardship are well supported and not disadvantaged.
